Goodyear Commences Search for 2010 Bayani ng Kalsada

Committed to promoting safety on the road, Goodyear Philippines once again launches its corporate social program, Bayani ng Kalsada, for the fifth consecutive year.  It is an annual nationwide search for Filipino drivers who demonstrate courage, sacrifice and concern for others through selfless heroic acts. Goodyear Philippines stresses their commitment in honoring the heroes of the road whose brave efforts have kept others safe from danger. They believe road safety is not just about driving practices, it also involves keeping a careful eye on the road and lending a helping hand in times of need.  By giving recognition to these heroes, they are promoting an awareness for road safety, which will eventually translate to a change in how we treat others on the road.

What it takes to be a hero

There is a huge responsibility placed on motorists whenever they are out on the road. Whether this responsibility is respected or taken for granted, motorists must keep in mind that there are lives at stake and therefore road safety must be top of mind.  This is what Bayani ng Kalsada is all about. More than a popularity contest, BNK is a celebration of ordinary deeds done by ordinary people who went beyond comfort and convenience to be ‘Good Samaritans’ when the situation called for it.

On its fifth year, BNK 2010 will once again honor five winners. One each from four regions—Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao and National Capital Region will receive P30000 while the overall champion will receive P50,000. Nomination is open to all professional drivers who have shown honesty, responsibility and genuine concern for public safety while on the road.  Nomination forms can be submitted through Goodyear Autocare, Goodyear Servitek or Goodyear Tyre Pro outlets nationwide or can be downloaded from the Bayani ng Kalsada page on Facebook.

All submitted nominations will be carefully evaluated by select transportation officials, media and sponsor representatives, and Goodyear executives. This reputable panel of judges will come up with a list of finalists from which they will choose this year’s “unsung heroes of the road.”

Bayani ng Kalsada is the Philippine version of a successful, long-running Goodyear program held annually in the U.S. and Canada (since 1983) that is now also held annually in Asia Pacific countries such as Australia, Vietnam and Indonesia. Dubbed Highway Heroes, the program has recognized truck drivers who have done heroic acts of courage, sacrifice and service on the road over the last 27 years. This year’s program is being done in cooperation with the Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC), Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), Automobile Association of the Philippines (AAP), Manila Bulletin, Pilipino Star Ngayon, Abante, Centro Negosyo, Cebuana Lhuillier and Safety Organization of the Philippines, Inc.  (SOPI).

Spotted: Four of the country’s biggest stars from rival networks recently caught joining forces and making the big switch…..  Of course, this breakthrough alliance was only made possible by a “mastermind” that is just as inventive. Yes, the drink that always keeps things fresh and exciting, Real Leaf Green Tea!

And  who are its latest recruits?  Without question, they are Philippine entertainment’s cream of the crop, the most sought after and the most captivating charmers of today. Four individuals who are making the choice to be deliciously revived; four powerhouse names who are now proudly keeping it real with Real Leaf— Marian Rivera, Dingdong Dantes, KC Concepcion and Piolo Pascual.

We believe all four of them have uniquely real, vibrant and dynamic personalities. Plus, they all live uncompromising and healthy lifestyles. UCC Launches Vision Logbook with Top Leadership Experts

It’s not only on New Year’s Day when we’re jotting down our resolutions that we need to think about change. Any time of year is, of course, a good time to start trying to bring about change.  “People can both desire and fear change,” says motivational speaker Francis Kong. “What we need to do is to learn how to let go of our fear of change.” Kong adds, “If we want to consciously bring about change for the good, then that change has to be envisioned and planned.”  “Change is not that hard to achieve,” says personal finance expert Randell Tiongson. “It’s really just a matter of adapting a system that works for you. We could be looking to accomplish personal, financial, professional, or social change. Keep in mind that change can be a positive force and that we need to actively take steps to make things happen.”
Entrepreneur and visionary Hubert Young thought it was the right time for a vision logbook that can help people bring about change. Young, owner of the UCC Coffee concept shops in the Philippines, decided to bring together the beacons of change to help him create that vision logbook. The beacons of change are some of the country’s top business coaches. These beacons are experts in their respective fields and are all well-versed when it comes to planning for change. The beacons of change who contributed to the vision logbook include Tiongson, Kong, and mind mapping expert Raju Mandhyan. Additionally, Let’s Go Foundation, a foundation aimed at poverty alleviation through entrepreneurship education, contributed the Entrepreneurship Workbook for Change module.
Building on the theme “Positive Change and Planning for Change,” the UCC Vision Logbook aims to deliver to loyal UCC customers a blend of motivational and practical information to keep on top of people's minds ways to bring about positive change  throughout the year. “This vision isn't just a vision logbook,” says Young. “It is something useful for individuals who want to see change in themselves and in their social environment. It is innovative and relevant.”
UCC Coffee Concept Store recently launched the elegant UCC Vision Logbook at the UCC Cafe Terrace, 26th St. Forbestown Center, Taguig City. The beacons of change who put the vision logbook together--Young, Kong, Tiongson, Mandyhan, and Let's Go Foundation's Prof. Francisco “Jay” M. Bernardo, III--were all in attendance.
The basic vision logbook includes 2011 and 2012 calendars and contains various useful modules such as a travel vision logbook, conversion tables, notes, and Francis Kong stories, tips, and quotations. This can be claimed after a UCC customer accumulates P 5,000 in UCC Coffee Concept Store receipts. More promotional coupons for free dishes or drinks are inside the logbook.

Beautrition – from athena....

Unilab Nutritionals who launched Athena, the country’s first and only milk brand that understands women once again  introduced Athena’s triad of benefits, a first in the Philippines, and its endorser, Bianca Araneta-Elizalde.  Athena is the only milk that understands modern-day Filipino women and helps them win their daily battles. Athena promises more benefits than any other skimmed milk brand in the Philippines by offering Beautrition – a combination of beauty and nutrition that gives women a triad of benefits to help them win their everyday battles:

Beautiful Skin. Athena provides anti-oxidants (Vitamin A, E & Zinc) to help women’s skin become healthier and more beautiful.
Strong Bones. Athena is high in calcium to help strengthen women’s bones.
Slim Figure. Athena is low in fat to help women maintain a slimmer figure.

Bianca Araneta-Elizalde is the Athena Woman
Bianca Araneta-Elizalde was introduced as Athena’s endorser for the way she has been able to successfully manage the different aspects of her life. Amid her various roles as model, TV host, entrepreneur, environmentalist and philanthropist, she still has time to be hands-on mother to two children and a caring wife to Juan Elizalde.  Bianca’s believes that Athena is the milk that perfectly complements her lifestyle. “The Beautrition benefit from Athena is unlike any other. I love it! Athena helps me get through my everyday challenges,” she said.

Three Women, Three Benefits
Event-host Bianca Valero also introduced three brand influencers that represent, through the active lives they lead, Athena’s triad of benefits: Lia Cruz who embodied strength through her career as a TV host, Sandra Seifert who embodied body as an active health buff, and Rissa Mananquil who embodied beauty through her successful international modeling career and fashion icon status.  Each shared about how they were able to successfully manage their busy schedules while still finding time to do the things they love to do.

“Women were looking for a milk product that provides not only health benefits but beauty benefits as well,” said Unilab Nutritionals Division Head, Brenda Miranda. “Athena with Beautrition answers that need and we’re proud to have launched the first and only milk in the Philippines that truly understands women.”

Athena is available in leading supermarkets, groceries and drugstores nationwide.
